From the Editors
The nice thing about this system is that it is expandable. Kind of like tinker toys you can build tall or wide, depending on the space requirements. The octibeam construction cradles bottles securely, and the design is clean and functional.

Customer Response
Functional rather than pretty
Very functional and easy to put together with some hammering. I would recommend the darker wood finishes. I bought the natural one and the unfinished wood looks cheap so we put in underneath our bar as our "functional winerack" rather than our "pretty winerack." Am considering painting it brown or black.
Versatile, Attractive & a Good Value
I like being able to put this wine rack together to fit in the space available under a shelf in my pantry and to add on to it with more kits as my wine collection expands. While I currently have my two sets out of view, its natural unfinished hardwood is attractive enough to put in the kitchen or bar. Two sets actually hold 28 bottles using the enclosed extra pegs. The Amazon price I paid can't be beat for this quality and versatility.
Sturdy, simple, and fits any space
Looks just as pictured and easy to assemble. It's perfect for the tight space in my kitchen and I love that it is modular--I'm ordering two more to add to the current one.
After assembling I gave each side a couple of taps where the pegs went through, which straightened out any crookedness due to pegs not being hammered all the way in.
Cheap, Convenient, Though Sometimes Inconsistent
Some assembly required. As in, the whole thing. If you live in tight quarters, make sure your neighbors won't mind you banging on wooden rods to assemble it. Some of the pegs were inconsistent in length (either that or the holes aren't all drilled to the same depth).
The good news is that the design is extremely modular and extensible. You are not, by any means, required to assemble it in a 3x3 configuration. Incidentally, I believe calling this a 12-bottle rack is creative marketing. Note that the 4th row of 3 bottles sits on top of the rack, not inside one of the pigeon holes.
For the price, this is a reasonable, extensible, flexible solution for racking wine. If you're looking for cheap, like I was, then this is probably a reasonable bet. If you want something fancy or better put-together, then I would suggest looking elsewhere.
Cheers .. Just what I needed
I needed a simple wine rack to hold a few bottles in my basement without taking up much room. This works great, I configured it to fit on an existing shelf, I bought 2 to make a 24 bottle holder. I picked this one based on how flexible the design is and the fact I can add to it later.
