From the Editors
Riedel Vinum Wine Glasses make every drop of wine taste its best. Riedel revolutionized glassware by customizing the shape of wine glasses to a particular type of wine. Each wine glass is fine-tuned to direct the flow of the wine onto parts of the palate that will best express the flavors and aromas of a specific wine varietal. The fine crystal offers superb clarity so you can experience the wine's color and texture. Moreover, all machine made Vinum stems are completely dishwasher safe. Made of over 24% leaded crystal. Highlighting the full spectrum of aromas and flavors offered by fine Champagne and sparkling wine, the Riedel Vinum Champagne / Cuvee Presitge glass also preserves their elegant effervescence. The fluted bowl provides ample breathing space, which concentrates the yeasty bouquet and brings out the full range of aromas. The narrow rim directs the flow of liquid to areas of the palate that recognize the creamy texture. Size: 8-5/8"H, 8-1/8 oz. Riedel Model # 6416/48

Customer Response
A Rocker!
One out of my four stems has a defect: uneven base which is difficult to detect by mere inspection; but it rocks ever-slightly on the granite counter. How weird. Imagine, a champagne rocker!!
Be sure to inspect the product THOROUGHLY upon arrival. I was alert by the other reviewer, S. Lam who lamented about quality problems for this particular stem. Lo & behold, I caught my champagne rocker on-time for replacement exchange. It's fair to knock off 1 star because of the trouble involved in the process.
My Fav
The perfect Riedel Champagne glass focuses the nose of the Champagne like focusing a magnifying glass. Layers of flavor become apparent singlely, instead of just a muddled mass. Straight up & down tulip shaped glasses that hold in fine bubbles, so the wine doesn't go flat, may hold sightly better, but this glass really focuses the nose better.
Be careful hand washing, turn upside down and hold NEAR glass and shake gently, don't hold the bottom or stem may crack. Hang dry upside down.
Yeah they are pricey. Frankly all the Reidel glasses, each designed specifically for a different varietal, focus nose better than those made by any other glass maker I know. These people know what they are doing. They must have some real sommeliers (wines experts in restaurants) on their staff to design these. For high end wines, get the specific Reidel glass designed for what you drink most!
I have also used these for tasting quality dessert wines and cognac (only filling up a quarter or less) and they worked well for parsing noses!
Highly recommended
These glasses strike just the right taste/aesthetics/quality/price balance. They are perfect to use to enjoy fine champagne at parties and not so fragile that I worry about the glasses being too easily broken or too costly to replace if something did happen to any of them.
Great product in reasonable price
I'm a Riedel fan because I used to work for wines business so I had chance to test different glasses for free, and Riedel offer the best quality along with the price factor. I have Sommelier Bordeaux glasses (real great for collection wines but it's a pain to hand wash it by myself with great care next morning) but Vinum series are the best for daily use. I don't mind that litte logo at all so it's not a problem to me (as long as it's my favour brand names). But caution: Riedel suffering quality control problem and it's happened few years ago, I know it because I used to check the shipment piece by piece when it arrived at my shops. My first shipment was no exception, it's came with 3 defected glasses, 1 with critical defect (Borken edge) and 2 with major defects (Bubbles mark at the bodies) Hey, it's 50% and unacceptable from such a famous manufacturer! The logistics from Amazon save the problem, the second shipment arrived 2 days later (Amazing!) and all glasses are free from defects (Hurray!). You got to be serious in drinking to appreciate what Reidel's quality make your fine champagne shine. Don't buy this if you expect these glasses will make your cheap sparkling wines taste better (although it helps a little), it will definitely disappoint you. Remember these glasses are suppose to pair with fine champagne!
Makes every occasion special!
I've done many, many tests on how wine tastes differently in various glass options and in different situations. Riedel is one of the tests that is easy for even beginning drinkers to see the difference in. The flavor is *amazingly* different when you compare the exact same wine in a Riedel glass vs normal wine glasses.
Even if you buy inexpensive wines, you will get much more enjoyment out of them with this glassware compared to other options. If you are buying mid-range wines, the difference will blow you away. Think of the Riedel glass as allowing you to see what the wine in your bottle *really* was meant to taste like.
Champagne and sparkling wine are traditional at special occasions, but they're also being drunk more and more as a 'regular' accompanyment to sushi and before a meal. It's great that people are enjoying this delicious wine any time, and these glasses help bring out the great flavors in sparklers.
